Titan Abrasive Systems announced the purchase of a new abrasive blast room by Southeastern Industrial Coatings of Mobile, Alabama.
According to company manager David McDade, the blast room was purchased in July 2025 and is scheduled to be installed by mid-September. It will be used to blast everything from pipes, gearboxes, pumps, and structural steel to automotive parts.
The Titan blast room will be installed in a new facility that Southeastern is constructing due to outgrowing its current location. To ensure continuity of the blasting operation, the old room will not be shut down until the Titan room is installed in the new facility.
Though the current blast room is from a different supplier, Southeastern President Roy Parker elected to inspect other models. He was impressed by the quality of the Titan offering and decided to make the switch.
Southeastern will operate the Titan room in a similar manner to its existing equipment: some parts will undergo blasting only, while others will be painted or powder-coated afterward, as per customer specifications. The smooth finish created by the abrasive blasting operation creates a surface that offers superior adhesion of paint and other coatings. The new Titan blast room is 15' wide x 12' high x 25' long. It will be equipped with a mechanical recovery system with a rotary drum and air wash (sweep-in style). A 10,000-CFM cartridge dust collector will help protect both the workers and the products. Titan is also providing turnkey installation and training.
For the parts that will be painted or finished after blasting, Southeastern also purchased a new Global Finishing Solutions paint booth (Titan is a GFS distributor).
“We’re excited that Southeastern Industrial Coatings elected to make this investment,” says Brandon Acker, president of Titan Abrasive Systems. Given that the company was already using a blast room from a different supplier, we knew the sale would be a challenge. We’re certainly pleased that the quality and durability of our room impressed them enough to make this significant investment.”
