NCP Coatings Acquires Glyptal

NCP Coatings says it has acquired Glyptal, a manufacturer of insulating enamel technologies serving the electrical and automotive markets.

The company says this marks NCP’s first acquisition since becoming private equity-backed and supports the company’s long-term strategy to build a mid-market coatings leader focused on high-performance, technology-driven solutions.

Doug MattscheckDoug MattscheckDoug Mattscheck, Chief Executive Officer of NCP Coatings, says acquiring Glyptal is a meaningful and strategic step forward for NCP.

“Glyptal’s legacy in the electrical coatings space aligns well with our vision to expand into specialty industrial segments where technical performance matters most,” he says. “This acquisition complements our portfolio, extends our reach into new applications, and signals our intent to continue scaling the business through technology-led growth. We’re excited to welcome Glyptal into the NCP family.”

Headquartered in Niles, Michigan, NCP Coatings is a formulator and manufacturer of advanced coating technologies for the industrial, military, commercial, and forestry markets.

Founded as a development arm of General Electric and later spun off as a private company, Glyptal has operated for decades as a specialty provider of insulating coatings used in electric motors, transformers, coils, and other industrial applications. Its products are trusted for their durability, thermal stability, and insulating performance across OEM and repair market segments.

Under the terms of the agreement, Glyptal’s brand will remain intact, and operations will be integrated into NCP Coatings’ headquarters in Niles, Michigan. Customers will continue to receive the products and formulations while gaining access to the broader NCP portfolio, including a wide range of industrial and military coatings.

Lacey MeerLacey Meer“Our focus throughout this integration is on ensuring a seamless experience for Glyptal’s customers,” says Lacey Meer, Chief Commercial Officer of NCP Coatings. “They can continue to rely on the same high-performance formulations and technical support they’ve known for decades. This move reinforces our commitment to smart, strategic growth while preserving the strengths that make Glyptal a trusted name in its field.”

Glyptal’s family ownership will assist with the transition over the coming months before exiting the business.

“After decades of serving our customers with products we deeply believe in, we’re proud to transition Glyptal to NCP Coatings—a company with shared values of technical excellence and customer focus,” says a representative of the Glyptal ownership group. “We are confident they will continue to build on Glyptal’s legacy and bring new opportunities to the brand and its customers.”

Backed by Century Park Capital Partners, a Los Angeles-based private equity firm focused on partnering with owner-managed businesses, NCP says is accelerating its mission to become a leading force in the mid-market industrial and military coatings sector.
